The "Kydonian" apple.
A quince fruit - known to the Greeks as the "Kydonian" apple – it looks like an apple when intact, resembles a pear when cut and has an unmatched taste. It is rather sour and because of its hard fruit flesh it is one of the rare fruits that cannot be consumed in its raw state but needs to be processed first. For example, into a delicious Leysieffer fruit spread.

Sometimes the saying “Everything was better in the past” is simply true. And that is precisely why our fruit spreads are still made in a very traditional way. We really do still cook them over an open flame on a gas stove. And in a good old copper pot. We are convinced that you can taste the difference: the hand work, the loving care and the freshness.
We also always produce only very small quantities of 3 kg per variety at a time. Not only because the hot pot has to be carefully decanted by hand after reaching a boil, but also because we want our spreads to get to you as fresh as possible.

In following this traditional production method, it is of course particularly important to us that the end product tastes good. That is why we attach equally high importance to good ingredients. Each fruit spread has a fruit content of over 50%, sometimes even higher than 60%.
“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper” – a saying that also comes to us from the good old days. In other words, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This alone already makes it worthwhile treating yourself to something as good as a homemade fruit spread from the Leysieffer manufactory.
